Conductor George Roach who died at the residence of John Krug on last Saturday evening from the amputation of a leg mangled on the IB&W had sent in his resignation and was making his last trip homeward, expecting to abandon railroading as a business.

George Roach, an IB&W freight conductor fell from the top of the cars at Pittsboro on last Saturday morning. The wheels smashed one of his legs below the knee. He was brought to the residence of John Krug at the Plum Street Depot, where Drs. Ensminger and Cowan were called and amputated the limb at the knee. Mr. Roach has a family at Urbana, Ill.
